There was this interesting news that an Afghan journalist threw two of his shoes at American President Bush and managed to bounce one of them of President Bush’s person. This took me back to my lawyer days to examine a number of cases where in my clients were charged under sec 355 of the penal code for using a chappal as a weapon of offence. That would be an offence of using force with intent to dishonor a person. I was also impressed by the fact that Actor Chiranjeevi’s dissenters throwing rotten eggs at him instead of an RDX bomb which was the culture of Andhra Pradesh till recently. I really appreciate the sophistication that came from the West in the matter of using force to dishonor a person without seriously damaging his anatomy. While using a chappal for the assault might cause minor skin abrasions while the throwing of an egg is less offensive unless rotten eggs are chosen. If the eggs or not rotten and are reasonably edible the insult intended less than by use of rotten eggs unless the victim is a vegetarian who does not consider even good eggs as not edible.

The moral of the Afghan story is a sole in hand is worth two thrown at Bush.
