Hello everyone.
I am a soldier - I retired from the Indian Army in 2004, as a major general. I was trained at the NDA and IMA and later graduated as a telecom engineer. I live in Gurgaon.
My interests are adventure sports, writing and law, though I have no legal qualifications. I used to take part in the Himalayan Car rally in the early eighties and later organised many such events in the Army and in Delhi, especially the Womens' Car Rally and the Handicapped Rally. In my younger days I have written many short stories for the Illustrated Weekly, (when Khushwant Singh was the editor), Femina, Eves Weekly etc. Later I turned to professional writing, though I still sometimes write articles on travel. I have published three books, mainly concerning military history amd biographies of Indian military leaders.
My interest in law was born while in the Army, when I had to deal with several courts martial. I have also filed several cases in the Consumer Forums and State/National Commission, as well as one in the High Court. I have never enagaged a lawyer, and argue all my cases personally, includng the one before a High Court bench headed by the Chief Justice.
I think this is an excellent forum for exchanging views about legal problems not only by lawyers but laymen like me who have no law degrees.
